Emotional Literacy Programme

Group Mentoring

The Bridge Mentoring Plus Scheme centre provides alternative educational programmes for small groups of young people (approx. 8) using one to one mentor support. Courses can be certificated or OCN accredited depending on the young person academic ability.

Young people enrolled on these programmes are:

. Needing extra support

. Needing to build confidence and self esteem

· Socially excluded

· Young Offenders

· Homeless

· Who have or are in danger of disengaging from education

· Classed as having Learning Difficulties

Currently, the Bridge Mentoring Plus Scheme runs courses 3 mornings a week to help educate young people in a range of social skills such as handling relationships, communication, active listening, negotiating, assertive behaviour and moral and legal rights and responsibilities. Young people have the opportunity to learn and develop new strategies to deal with negative emotions as well as discovering where to access facilities that could support them emotionally and recreationally.
